Abstract: This tutorial/seminar is inviting you to examine the wearable technologies that are just starting to become a part of our everyday lives.  They live on our wrists, attached to our eyeglasses, and embedded in our clothes.  We will learn how Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) makes wearable technologies possible, how Android Wear brings smart watches into Android ecosystem, and how Apple Notification Center Service (ANCS) empowers your Apple Watch. Finally, we will prototype a wearable device using Intel Edison Breakout Board and supercharge it with some serious fun with Node.js. Programming languages such as C, Android, Swift and JavaScript are used but no prior knowledge of them is required.
 

Short Bio: Angus Yeung is the Senior Software Manager for Wearable Computing at Intel. He got his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Rochester. He has been working in Intel for 11 years on Android and iOS apps for wearable computing and sensor enabled devices such as Intel Smart Earbuds and Heart Rate SDK. Dr. Yeung is also a Lecturer in Department of Computer Science at San Jose State University teaching Object Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and Data Structure and Algorithms. Previously, he worked in various engineering companies, led development teams and managed projects on video processing and streaming technologies.
