Sabancı University's New Students Complete Orientation Days

Sabancı University's new students received detailed information about the enrollment process, graduation, program selection, and services offered during the Orientation Days. The Orientation Days began on September 24 with speeches by Sabancı University President Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici and Vice President for Education Dr. Cem Güneri.

We are providing you with the foundations that will prepare you for the next 50 years”

President Yusuf Leblebici, in his speech to the new students, said the following:

“Start planning and shaping your career and your future with us from today. Unlike what you have seen until now, you will see that there is a two-way communication here. Our doors are always open to you. We are here to guide you. A university diploma is no longer just a professional certificate. You have at least a 50-year career ahead of you. During this time, you will work in different environments and countries. You will have different professions that do not yet have a name. Our job is not just to teach you a profession and give you your diploma. Our job is to provide you with the foundations that will prepare you for the next 50 years. It is your responsibility to use and develop this. Our university has 12 different diploma programs. You can continue your path by choosing one or two of them. However, you may encounter a very different world in 20, 30, or 40 years. My advice to you is to prepare yourselves for the future. Have the foundations to make the best use of the opportunities that will come your way. Unlike other universities, Sabancı University offers these foundations. This is not just a place where you can acquire a profession. This is a place where you will gain the necessary foundations to take solid steps towards the future.”

“You are at Türkiye’s Most Unique University”

Sabancı University Vice President for Education, Dr. Cem Güneri, began his speech by saying, “You can be sure that you are at Türkiye’s most unique university.” Güneri provided students with information about the university's structure and campus life: “This year, 900 new undergraduate students have joined us. In addition, 130 exchange students will be with us in the Fall Semester. Our university has a total of 5200 students, 4200 of whom are undergraduate and 1000 are graduate and doctoral students. We have dormitories with a capacity of over 3000 beds and more than 200 staff residences on campus. This is a campus where approximately 5,000 people live 24/7. Although Sabancı University is a young university, it has graduated 19,000 students in 25 years. 33% of our graduates continue their work outside of Türkiye, in leading universities and companies internationally. You too will join this highly successful group of graduates in the future.

Sabancı University is one of the universities that gives its students the most freedom and initiative when we consider distinguished universities in Türkiye and abroad. What is this freedom? When you come to our university, you don't have to decide which program to choose immediately. You will have time to choose your program. With the information you gain here, the successes of the students and faculty around you, the studies you will witness, and the courses you choose in the areas you are interested in; by the end of your second year, you will be able to make a clear decision saying, "Okay, I want to study in this program." The curriculum will also offer you many initiatives. One of the points that makes Sabancı University the most unique university is this freedom.”
