Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) member Yasemin Şengül Tezel qualifies for the TÜBİTAK Career Development Program Support (3501).

TÜBİTAK 3501 is a career development program. The name of Yasemin Şengül Tezel’s project to be supported by this program is "Mathematical Analysis of Strain Rate-Dependent Viscoelasticity Models in the Context of Closed Body".

Elastic and viscoelastic materials have a large area of application in many fields of physics and engineering, for example in the automotive industry, robotics and machinery technologies, electronics, construction and biomedicine. Upon the advancement of technology, viscoelastic materials had a growing importance, and examination of differential equations defining the viscous deformation of solid objects became important in terms of applications made with these materials. From a mathematical perspective, qualitative examination of solutions of pre-defined initial value and limit value problems for nonlinear partial differential equations with damping effect is a classical and important subject.

Yasemin Şengül Tezel’s project uses the body relation corresponding to behaviors of solid materials dependent on strain rate as a new class of viscoelastic material. The project aims to make a mathematical examination for the one and three-dimensional differential equations and the coupled equation obtained by using the above-mentioned relation.

With its interdisciplinary structure involving mathematical analysis, modelling and mechanics, the project, supported by TÜBİTAK, is also intended to benefit researchers in fields other than mathematics.
