As part of the MGMT 301 – Introduction to Sustainability course taught by Prof. Dr. Zafer Yenal at Sabancı University, students will conduct Sustainability Audit examining the sustainability practices on the campus.
The selected studies from the MGMT 301 course will be shared through poster presentations to be held on Thursday, December 25th, between 11:40 and 13:30 in the corridor between the cafeteria and the bank on campus. Within the scope of these studies, students systematically examined sustainability practices throughout the campus and conducted a comprehensive field assessment.
Studies to be Shared Through Poster Presentations
In the audit process conducted as part of the MGMT 301 course, the projects of six groups that stood out in terms of success among the studies of different student groups were transformed into poster presentations. The event to be held on Thursday aims both to make the academic production carried out within the scope of the course visible and to increase sustainability awareness throughout the campus.
Emphasis on Sustainability on Campus
As part of the Sustainability Audit, students observed and evaluated the university's environmental and social sustainability practices on-site. The studies analyzed the strengths of existing practices and areas for improvement, while also developing feasible recommendations to strengthen campus sustainability.
Key topics the students focused on included shuttle and transportation systems, energy use and efficiency, waste management and recycling, water consumption and conservation, sustainability practices in dormitories, and social sustainability.
Feedback from the Sustainability Manager
Following the completion of the audit, Sabancı University's Sustainability Manager, Pelin Nur Karaçal, provided feedback to the students on their work. This interactive process helped students evaluate their field observations from an institutional sustainability perspective and further develop their recommendations.
The MGMT 301 course, taught by Prof. Dr. Zafer Yenal, a faculty member at Sabancı Business School, is the only compulsory course in the Sustainability Minor Program, which embodies Sabancı University's sustainability vision and is a product of its pioneering steps in this field.
