Sabancı University Hosted the BAGEP 2026 Award Ceremony: 5 Academics from the University Received Awards

The Academy of Sciences Young Scientists Award Program (BAGEP), given annually by the Academy of Sciences to support outstanding young scientists, awarded its 2026 prizes. Five faculty members from Sabancı University were awarded for their innovative ideas. The awards were presented at a ceremony held on April 18th at the Sabancı University Performing Arts Center. Associate Professor Adnan Kefal, Dr. Duygu Kuzuoğlu Öztürk, Dr. Alhun Aydın, and Dr. Dimitrios Papathanasiou from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Associate Professor A. Doruk Günaydın from Sabancı Business School were awarded the BAGEP prize for their original work in various disciplines.

 

 

A total of 550 academics have been supported since 2013.

BAGEP has been supporting the work of young academics since 2013. To date, a total of 513 awards have been given under the program, and with this year's results, 37 new researchers have been deemed eligible for support. Eight faculty members from Middle East Technical University, five from Koç University, two from Boğaziçi University, six from Bilkent University, three from Hacettepe University, and one each from Bursa Uludağ University, Atılım University, TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Özyeğin University, Gebze Technical University, Health Sciences University, Kadir Has University, and Dokuz Eylül University received the award. 

 

 

Researchers are provided with support for two years. 

The BAGEP awards, which the Academy of Sciences conducts based on the principles of scientific merit, freedom, and honesty, contribute to strengthening academic production in Türkiye by supporting scientists from different disciplines. Within the scope of the program, which aims to encourage original and high-quality scientific studies, researchers who receive the award are provided with support for two years.
