Duygu Taş, Associate Professor at Sabancı University’s Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has been appointed guest editor of a special issue of Omega – The International Journal of Management Science celebrating the journal’s 55th anniversary.
Founded in 1973, Omega is a leading journal in Operations Research and Operations Management. It is ranked in the top quartile (Q1) of the Operations Research & Management Science category in the Journal Citation Reports and has a 2025 impact factor of 6.9. Titled “Data-Driven Optimization for Smart Cities,” the anniversary special issue will feature research at the intersection of optimization, operations analytics, artificial intelligence, and urban decision-making. Topics will include smart mobility, urban logistics, energy systems, and emergency response.
Dr. Taş’s research focuses on mathematical programming and combinatorial optimization, transportation planning and logistics, production and inventory planning, and airline crew scheduling. She is also affiliated with Sabancı University’s Smart Mobility and Logistics Lab, which focuses on urban mobility and sustainable transport planning, and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Freight Transport and Mobility area of OR Spectrum.
She will serve alongside guest editors Ilke Bakir of the University of Groningen, Hao Fu of Beijing Jiaotong University, Lead Guest Editor Kai Pan of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Jorge A. Sefair of the University of Florida, and Ming Zhao of the University of Delaware.
Submissions to the special issue will be accepted until August 31, 2027.
