Currently on view at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum, organised with the support of Akbank, the exhibition showcases close to one hundred monumental works created by renowned German painter, sculptor, and printmaker Georg Baselitz over the past decade.
Spanning all gallery spaces and the museum’s garden, the exhibition delves into themes such as aging and the transience of time while offering a profound reflection on personal and collective memory. Featuring the latest examples of Baselitz’s distinctive style, developed in response to the traumas of the Second World War, this selection invites visitors on a journey through the present shaped by the traces of the past. The artist’s inverted compositions, which lie at the intersection of figurative and abstract art, once again highlight his dynamic and ever-innovative approach to art.
Georg Baselitz: The Last Decade exhibition can be visited free of charge by Sabancı University staff and students at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum every day except Mondays, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, until March 16, 2025.
