In PROJ 201, students learn about research through hands-on experience, working alongside supervisors with expertise in their fields. Asking questions, experimenting with ideas, taking responsibility within a team, and working through challenges are all part of the process. As students discover their interests and develop their skills, this experience can also open doors to future involvement in PURE, graduation, and TÜBİTAK projects.

Two outstanding examples from the Spring 2025–2026 semester were selected for awards by a jury of Foundations Development Directorate (FDD) faculty members. Following the Best Poster Award presented at the end of the semester, we met with the recipients of the Best Final Report and Best Final Oral Presentation awards on Friday, October 2, at the FDD office, UC1089.

The Best Final Report Award went to Ali Shahzad, Areen Osama Fareed Abu Shamat, Ece Kuvvetli, and Selin Özbağçıvan, who explored environmental sustainability practices on campus under the supervision of Serpil Öz.

At the gathering, Serpil Öz and Deniz Başar presented their students with small gifts in recognition of their achievements. These gifts are a way of acknowledging the effort our students put into their projects and showing that their good work is seen and valued.
We congratulate our students and thank their supervisors for their guidance and support. We wish all our students a new semester filled with opportunities to learn together and produce good work.
