Detailed information of Nanyang Technological University Marine Research PhD Scholarship is given below.
(1) Maritime Economics/ Shipping Asset Management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master Degree with very good academic results in a relevant discipline from a reputable university.
- Academic and/or practical experience in business analytics, financial management, asset management, investment appraisal/project finance or shipping market research (at least one of these).
- Highly motivated and research oriented.
- Fluent verbal and written communications in English; good GRE and TOEFL or IELTS scores if your first language is not English.
- Financial literacy and good use of fundamental techniques/instruments such as econometric analysis, cash flow analysis, input-output analysis, time series forecasting (at least one of these).
(2) Decision Support Systems/ Operations Research/ Computer Intelligence in Maritime Economics and Finance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master Degree with very good academic results in a relevant discipline from a reputable university.
- Academic and/or practical experience in shipping business analytics, shipping market analysis, marine terminal operations, port performance assessment, among others (at least one of these).
- Highly motivated and research oriented.
- Fluent verbal and written communications in English; good GRE and TOEFL or IELTS scores if your first language is not English.
- Good use of fundamental techniques/instruments such as spreadsheet modeling (e.g. MS Excel), optimization algorithms, programming languages (e.g. C++, Python), MATLAB, Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks, among others (at least one of them).
Stipend and allowances:
- Full support of tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of S$2,000 per month (S$2,500 after the qualifying examination)
- Conference allowance
Qualification
During the first year, you will be expected to take relevant courses and to work towards passing the qualifying examination. In the event that this qualification is not met, there will be no conversion to a Master’s degree for the awardees.
