Nicholas Stern, Susan Michie, and Philip Pettit Talks Held

Lord Nicholas Stern, Professor of Economics and Management at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences; Susan Michie, Director of the Center for Behavior Change at University College London; and Philip Pettit, Princeton University L.S. Rockefeller Professor of Human Values and Professor of Philosophy at Australian National University Canberra, who were in Turkey within the scope of Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards and 20th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony, came together with Sabancı University students and shared their valuable knowledge.

Before the talks, the panelists were hosted by our President Yusuf Leblebici, our Vice President Fuat Keyman, and our Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Meltem Müftüler-Baç, in the president’s office. The talks took place simultaneously in the FASS Building.

Academics and students attended the talks that took place simultaneously in 3 different classes, 2023, 2034, and 2054, at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at 11:00 on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Nicholas Stern

The talk of Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards 2020 Special Jury Prize winner Lord Nicholas Stern took place at 11:00 in FASS class 2034. Lord Nicholas Stern drew attention to the effects of climate change on the world economy and answered the questions of the participants.

Susan Michie

The talk of Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards 2021 Special Jury Prize winner Susan Michie, Director of the Center for Behavior Change at University College London, took place at 11:00 in FASS class 2023. Susan Michie, who elaborated on what the participants wondered about health psychology, answered the questions of our students and academics within a broad framework in the field of psychology.

Philip Pettit

The talk of Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards 2023 Special Jury Prize winner Philip Pettit, Princeton University L.S. Rockefeller Professor of Human Values and Professor of Philosophy at Australian National University Canberra, took place at 11:00 in FASS class 2054. Making evaluations about the concepts of republic, freedom, and democracy, Pettit also touched upon issues such as the history of republican theory and liberal freedom of choice. Philip Pettit's talk continued with questions from the participants.
