SPARKS is an attempt to examine the visual impulses and discoveries of experimental storytelling based on individual artist experience and visual awareness. The aim of this exhibit is not only to showcase complete final artwork, but to share the student ignited sparks of ideas, conceptual developments, processes, to expression of finalizing an artwork through digital media application.

Given this year in the field of culture and arts, the Vehbi Koç Foundation 10th Vehbi Koç Prize was awarded to Sabancı University faculty member Filiz Ali, the founder of the Ayvalık International Music Academy.

The “Ships off Sarayburnu” painting of Davit Çıraciyan (1839-1907?), a part of the Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum Collection, is available for viewing at the Information Center.

This 1895 painting is a naïve, elegant, almost photographic depiction of the view from the coast of Sarayburnu, a common inspiration of Western artists at the time.  It is different from the –mainly Parisian– style of the time in that it depicts Istanbul from a documentary perspective.

To be held by the Sabancı University MBA Club for the first time this year, the Social Media Summit will discuss social media, the use of social media in the business world, and the importance of social media for businesses.

The event will take place on February 26, 2011 at the Sabancı University campus in Tuzla, and will feature speakers who represent industry-leading companies in Turkey and around the world.

The “Tea Conversations with CEOs” team was featured in the Strait Times, one of the leading dailies in Singapore, with the Singapore event they held recently.
