Material Science and Engineering 2009 graduate Dr. Canan Dagdeviren has just been selected as a Junior Fellow of Harvard by the Society of Fellows at Harvard University.

This 3-year award is intended to promote interdisciplinary research in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA). Dr. Dagdeviren is the first scientist from Turkey to be selected for this prestigious award, and received the highest number of votes given by Senior Fellows.

Canan Sayitoğlu, a graduate student working towards her PhD in Batu Erman's laboratory in the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Program of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, competed in three Science Slams held in Istanbul and in Germany.

Science Slams are similar to poetry slams, but here young scientists talk about their research to a non-specialist audience for 10 minutes.

Sabancı University students Aslıhan Dal, Neslihan Sümer, Begüm Kobanbay and Ali Şimşek focused on the issue of paper waste and paper consumption on campus in the environmental contest held by Yeşilist.

Sabancı University invited parents to the annual “Family and Education Day” to relive their days as students.  Lectures in sciences and arts discussed a wide range of subjects from organ design and printing to the use of robots and computers by brain signals, the common points of Mexico, Turkey and India, and people, institutions, management and life.

United States Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz spoke to the students of the Sabancı University Graduate Program in Energy on “Energy Security and Climate Change.”

The winners of the awards endowed by the Sabancı University School of Management in memory of faculty member Hakan Orbay, who passed away in 2011, were announced.

The Permanent Wide-Spectrum Disinfectant Approach to Antibiotic Resistance and Hospital Infections (ANTIMIC) project implemented in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences in partnership with Inovent took first place in the 4th Chemicals R&D Project Marketplace.
