Our Graduate Named Associate Dean at Boston University

Ayşe Kıvlcım Coşkun, our 2003 graduate of Microelectronics Engineering and also our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (MDBF) Network Faculty Member, was appointed as interim associate dean at Boston University College of Engineering (ENG).

In this role, Coşkun will support the college’s research enterprise by promoting the faculty and supporting research studies. She will work to recruit and retain faculty who are committed to working across disciplinary lines to solve society’s pressing problems.

Coşkun previously served as associate dean for Education at ENG and managed the process of designing and operating many important functions, such as using the faculty capacity to add data science to the undergraduate education curriculum.

Coşkun will continue serving as the director of the Center for Information and Systems Engineering and pursuing her own research, which encompasses topics in embedded systems, energy-efficient computing, and high-performance computing, among others. Her work has been cited more than 5,000 times.

Currently the deputy editor-in-chief for IEEE Transactions on Computer Aided Design and associate editor for ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization, Coşkun has also served terms as associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers and on the executive committee of the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation.
