An Emeritus Ceremony was held for Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baç, who has contributed to Sabancı University for many years through his academic work and administrative roles. The event, held in the Sabancı University Cinema Hall, was attended by a large number of university members.
Sabancı University President Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici, who gave the opening speech, thanked Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baç for his contributions to the university and academic life.
Following this, Sabancı University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Meltem Müftüler-Baç stated that Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baç made significant contributions to the development of the university's research-oriented vision, saying, "Mehmet is always behind young scientists; he never puts himself forward. He follows what all the young scientists here are doing and supports their scientific work."
Receiving the Emeritus title, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baç highlighted the importance of the free and interdisciplinary academic environment provided by Sabancı University to his career. Prof. Dr. Baç stated, “I would rather talk about the university's contribution to me. The university offered us a very liberal environment throughout this period.”
Following the speeches, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baç was presented with a brick as part of the Emeritus title. The ceremony continued with a group photo session and concluded after the participants offered their congratulations.
