Pushmote becomes the first Turkish venture to be accepted to Techstars

Turkey-based Pushmote was accepted to Techstars, the largest venture accelerator program in the United States which receives thousands of submissions every year. This is the first time a Turkish venture receives investment from Techstars.

Founded by Sabancı University graduates Gökay Hamamcı, Tarık Özket, Taha Özket and Pamir Erdem in February 2014, Pushmote aims to grow by providing creative solutions to the location-based analytical data needs of companies.

Started in partnership with Inovent, Turkey's first technology investment company, Pushmote is noteworthy for being among the rare ventures in Turkey that produce high technology products, and develops platforms that enable companies to implement the iBeacon technology.

Techstars supported 502 ventures so far, including DigitalOcean, SendGrid, Keen.io and Conspire, playing a large part in bringing the total value of these companies to USD 42 billion. Recognized as the world's most successful venture accelerator program, Techstars invests in only 10 out of the thousands of companies that apply every year. Pushmote’s success in this competitive environment is tremendously important for the Turkish venture ecosystem.

The iBeacon technology announced by Apple to merge virtual and real worlds enables smartphones to provide instant, micro location-based content. In other words, iBeacon allows previously blind smartphones to see what is around them. With the advent of the Internet of Things, the iBeacon technology is expected to reach a huge market in the near future. This technology is behind functions like opening a hotel room door without a key, as demonstrated in Apple's introduction of iWatch, which serves as further confirmation.

The scene in 2002's Minority Report starring Tom Cruise where John Anderton is greeted by his name when he enters a shop now becomes reality thanks to mobile telephones and the iBeacon technology.

The technology developed by Pushmote is currently in use at thousands of locations in 54 countries. The SDK and platform provided by Pushmote enables companies that aim to use the iBeacon technology achieve these objectives in an effective way.
