Sabancı University has launched a collaboration that will further sustainable manufacturing solutions in advanced materials technologies.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Sabancı University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU-IMC) and Thermoplastic Composite Research Center (TPRC) will increase the University’s global research capacity and reinforce its leadership in the fields of composites, additive manufacturing, and nanotechnology.
Sabancı University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU-IMC) and Netherlands-based Thermoplastic Composite Research Center (TPRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advanced thermoplastic composite materials and innovative manufacturing technologies. Sabancı University President Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici, Vice President for Research Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yıldız, SUATT (Research Development and Technology Transfer Office) Director Talat Durgut, SU-IMC CEO Devrim Özaydın, and SU-IMC Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Burcu Saner Okan, and TPRC General Manager Dr. Sebastiaan Wijskamp attended the signing ceremony held on December 4, 2024.
Sabancı University President Yusuf Leblebici said that with the strategic partnership established between SU-IMC and TPRC, they aim to support scientific and academic studies, develop sustainable solutions in advanced material technologies, and bring innovative manufacturing approaches to the sector. Leblebici said, “This collaboration will reinforce our university’s leadership in the fields of composites, additive manufacturing, and nanotechnology.” TPRC General Manager Dr. Sebastiaan Wijskamp said, “With this collaboration, which is an important step towards achieving sustainability and efficiency goals, we are advancing our innovation efforts in the field of thermoplastic composites.”
Sabancı University to strengthen its sectoral impact with this partnership
The studies to be carried out through the DIMAP-Direct Digital Production Platform Project, which is carried out within the Sabancı University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU-IMC) and aims to give new momentum to the digitalization processes of the industry, are expected to increase Sabancı University's global research capacity while providing innovative production solutions to the sector. Within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding, joint studies will be carried out on standardized characterization of advanced thermoplastic composite materials, durability, and innovative applications in thermoplastic Automatic Fiber Placement (AFP) technologies, resource development processes, sustainable and nanomaterial-reinforced thermoplastic composite solutions, and new collaborations and production solutions within the scope of DIMAP. With this strategic partnership, Sabancı University aims to further its academic research at an international level and strengthen its sectoral impact.
