Sabancı University hosted the international workshop “GPCR at the Crossroads” on October 6–7, 2026, bringing together researchers from leading universities and research institutions across Europe. The workshop was supported by the Sabancı University International Seed Fund, within the framework of its collaboration with Imperial College London.

The two-day workshop provided a platform for interdisciplinary scientific exchange, focusing on recent advances and emerging challenges in G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) research. GPCRs play a crucial role in cellular communication and represent important targets for drug discovery and therapeutic development.

The workshop featured presentations by Ogün Adebali and Canan Atılgan from Sabancı University; Aylin Hanyaloglu, Sarah Rouse, and Alejandra Tomas-Catala from Imperial College London; Robert Jefferson from King's College London; Paolo Annibale from the University of St Andrews; Marin Matic from the University of Copenhagen; Philippe Rondard from IGF Montpellier; Maria Shchepinova from the University of Bath; and Miriam Stoeber from the University of Geneva.

Throughout the workshop, participants exchanged insights on GPCR signaling, receptor interactions, evolutionary biology, computational modeling, and emerging therapeutic approaches. In addition to scientific presentations, interactive discussions encouraged participants to identify common research interests, explore innovative approaches, and develop ideas for future collaborative projects.

Supported by the Sabancı University International Seed Fund, the workshop strengthened the research collaboration between Sabancı University and Imperial College London, while fostering scientific exchange and new connections among researchers from internationally recognized institutions. The event also highlighted Sabancı University's commitment to interdisciplinary research and international scientific cooperation.
