At SAHA EXPO 2026, the Sabancı University Rocket Team (SUROC) showcased its high-altitude GÖKSU rocket, bringing Sabancı University’s engineering capability and technology-driven approach together with industry professionals and key stakeholders.

As one of Türkiye’s leading gatherings in defense, aerospace, and space technologies, SAHA EXPO 2026 brought a wide ecosystem under one roof—from public institutions and private industry to academia and startups. Taking part in an event of this scale provided a valuable opportunity to follow the latest technological trends up close, observe real-world expectations firsthand, and explore potential collaboration topics. SUROC’s presence at the expo enabled the team’s development approach and technical vision to be communicated to a broader audience of decision-makers and experts.

Developed with a 3 km altitude targetGÖKSU attracted attention with its reusable designcarbon-fiber structure, and high-precision flight electronics. Throughout the event, meetings and feedback helped strengthen the team’s roadmap, while exchanges with peer teams working in similar fields created a productive environment for experience-sharing and learning.

While SUROC continues to progress successfully through the Teknofest Rocket Competition this year, the team aims to represent Türkiye and Sabancı University internationally next year by competing in the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in the United States. With a strong interdisciplinary culture and a sustainable engineering mindset, SUROC remains committed to advancing its development and production efforts in rocket technologies.
