Sabancı University will make strong contributions to Türkiye's strategic breakthrough in quantum technologies within the scope of the SSB Quantum Program, implemented in cooperation with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).

At the ceremony held in Ankara with the participation of YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and the President of the Defense Industries Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Sabancı University President Yusuf Leblebici signed the Defense Industry Quantum Technologies Strategic Competence Development Cooperation Protocol and the Superconducting Quantum Processor Unit (QPU) Development Project on behalf of the university.
Sabancı University to Train Human Resources for the Future of Quantum Technologies
Within the scope of the Defense Industry Quantum Technologies Strategic Competence Development Cooperation Protocol, Sabancı University will lead education and research activities aimed at training qualified human resources needed by the defense industry ecosystem in the fields of quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communication. Our university will accelerate the development of Türkiye's quantum ecosystem by developing its programs in quantum and related technology fields in line with sector needs.

Türkiye's Domestic Quantum Processor to be Developed
Sabancı University will actively participate in the Superconducting Quantum Processor Unit (QPU) Development Project, which will make significant contributions to Türkiye's strategic breakthrough in the field of quantum technologies. The project, which aims to develop a superconducting quantum processor unit of at least 5 qubits entirely with domestic resources, will make significant contributions to strengthening Türkiye's research and development capacity in the field of quantum technologies. The project, which will last 48 months, will be carried out within a structure where ASELSAN is the client and approver, and the Presidency of Defense Industry is the final approving authority, with Sabancı University and TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (TÜBİTAK UME) as joint contractors.
The project will be led by Prof. Dr. İsmet İnönü Kaya, Faculty Member of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabancı University; with contributions from Prof. Dr. Özcan Öztürk, Faculty Member of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Dr. Yılmaz Şimşek, Principal Investigator of SUNUM.
Sabancı University Will Strengthen Türkiye's Quantum Vision
With this strategic initiative, Sabancı University will shape Türkiye's quantum ecosystem through its research in quantum technologies, the human resources it will train, and the technologies it will develop. Through strategic collaborations and pioneering R&D projects, our university will make strong contributions to increasing our country's competence in critical technologies and achieving a globally competitive position in quantum technologies.
