The “Vision of Sakıp Sabancı Project” created by Sabancı University Marketing and Institutional Communications Team, Melisa Sabancı Tapan, and Consciouslab Agency for the 2024 Sakıp Sabancı 20th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony received its 6th award. The project, which has won 5 awards in different award programs in Turkey to date, most recently won the “Best AI Online Integration” award at the European Excellence Awards 2024.

It became one of two brands nominated in three categories
The European Excellence Awards, created to honor the extraordinary achievements of communication professionals in Europe in their fields, is an award program recognized and co-financed by the European Union since 2007. In the program, nearly 1,000 projects from 35 countries were evaluated in 61 categories according to the criteria of ‘strategy, innovation and creativity, implementation, results, and efficiency’. The Vision of Sakıp Sabancı project, which combines an artificial intelligence infrastructure with a customized voice model, became one of two brands nominated in three categories among all participants in the 2024 European Excellence Awards.
Underlining the success created by the chatbot and stating that artificial intelligence enables groundbreaking projects in many areas of our lives today, Melisa Sabancı Tapan said, “We took advantage of these opportunities and realized this project that carries Sakıp Sabancı’s intellectual legacy, values, teachings, and vision to the future. While discovering the possibilities offered by technology, being able to be this close to my beloved grandfather was an extremely exciting experience that had deep meaning for me. I think that the project essentially coincides with my grandfather’s ideas and statements and reflects his foresight. He emphasized the importance of valuing people at every opportunity and argued that strength comes from unity. This model emerged as a product of collective work and continues to develop. These awards we received in the global arena also prove that we are on the right track.”
A first in Turkey, one of the few examples in the world
The Vision of Sakıp Sabancı project, prepared for the 2024 Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards and the 20th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony, has become a first in Turkey and one of the few examples in the world as an innovative application of artificial intelligence in the fields of transfer of legacy from the past to the present and data usage. Within the scope of the project, artificial intelligence carried Sakıp Sabancı's thoughts and vision to the modern world and interacted with him in a digital environment. Thus, it eliminated the passive feature of traditional transfer of legacy and offered an interactive experience.
Being able to benefit from the thoughts of a guiding and visionary businessman like Sakıp Sabancı, who led comprehensive studies for the business world, society and education, as if he were alive, was one of the most important elements of the project that stood out. The project was brought to life by processing the data collected from Sakıp Sabancı's audio, visual, and written archives, which were formed throughout his life, as a result of months of meticulous work.
