Representing Turkey’s space and aviation vision by bringing together leading
figures in the field, the National Space Program Summit welcomed the
participation of Sabancı University Rocket Team SUROC, where the team
introduced its rocket named GÖKSU at its own stand. Developed with a 3 km
altitude target, GÖKSU stood out with its reusability, carbon-fiber
structure, and high-precision flight electronics, clearly reflecting the
team’s technological and engineering expertise in the field. By meeting with
experts who shape the space and aviation technology ecosystem, the team
shared its technical know-how, engineering infrastructure, and future vision
in a strong and confident manner.

Held at Konya Science Center with the participation of Turkey’s first
astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, the summit created an inspiring and visionary
atmosphere aligned with the National Space Program’s goals by bringing
together young engineering candidates, academia, and industry professionals
under the same roof.

Carrying out innovative, interdisciplinary, and high-ambition work in space
and aviation technologies, SUROC continues its efforts with determination
and perseverance as one of the pioneering teams that brings Sabancı
University’s technology- and innovation-driven approach into the field. This
year, the team’s primary goal is to participate in the Teknofest Rocket
Competitions with two rockets, demonstrating its engineering capability
across two separate platforms in a real-world environment. In line with this
goal, the designs of the second prototype rocket have been completed, and
preparations are ongoing to move into the production and integration phases.
The team’s next major objective is to represent Turkey and Sabancı
University on the international stage by competing in the International
Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in the United States and delivering a
competitive performance.

With its work structured around these goals, Sabancı University Rocket Team
(SUROC) operates as a student initiative that supports students in gaining
competence in science, technology, and engineering. The team aims to achieve
successful results in national and international competitions by developing
innovative and original projects in the field of rocket technologies.

In this direction, SUROC does not focus solely on technical production
processes; it also prioritizes interdisciplinary teamwork, project
management skills, and a sustainable engineering approach. Through the work
carried out within the team, students have the opportunity to turn their
theoretical knowledge into practice and carry the experience they gain into
their future academic and professional careers.
