Dr. Yoong Wah Alex Wong, faculty member in the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Program (VAVCD) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Sabancı University, has been appointed as a Recommending Committee Member for the Global Youth Imaging Art 100 Exhibition 2025.
In conjunction with this global event, Dr. Wong also served as a jury member and delivered a keynote address titled “Internalizing Visual Experience – How to Enhance Generation Z’s Visual Knowledge and Intelligence in the Digital Age” at the Silk Road Youth Photo Competition Award Ceremony. The competition was organized under the Beijing International Photography Week from 18 - 27 October 2025, sponsored by the China Art Photography Society, hosted by the China Millennium Monument World Art Center, and supported by Sony (China) Co. Ltd. and Hahnemühle (Germany).
In this yearGlobal Youth Imaging Art 100 Exhibition, Sabancı University alumna Neslihan Koyuncu Balı received a Top 10 Award for her artwork The Uneasiness of Corporeity, earning a monetary prize and Sony products valued at approximately 290,000 TL. Other alumni among the Top 100 include Canan Erbil (I Stand Alone) and Özge Kepenek (Brute Resort). Additionally, Nagihan Aydınlık’s A Letter to Nile and Ayşe Beraa Özcan’s Istanbul: The Shapes of Movement of a City were featured among the Top 30 at the Silk Road Youth Photo Competition.
The Beijing International Photography Week, now in its twelfth edition, is a globally recognized event in photography and visual culture. The 2025 edition adopts the academic theme “Echoes of Civilization,” exploring how AI and digital technologies are reshaping the visual arts. Upholding the principles of internationalization, professionalism, and academic excellence, this year’s program includes over 50 exhibitions and 10 dialogue sessions, fostering global exchange and interdisciplinary innovation.
Held at the China Millennium Monument, the event continues to promote the advancement of contemporary photographic art worldwide, inviting artists, scholars, and enthusiasts to engage in a shared dialogue on imagery, technology, and civilization.
