“Amadeus,” which played to sold-out audiences for 6 seasons, at SGM

The Sabancı University Performing Arts Center's program for the month begins on the evening of April 3rd with “Amadeus,” a co-production of Çolpan İlhan-Sadri Alışık Theatre and Piu Entertainment, directed by master director Işıl Kasapoğlu. In this unique production, the audience is invited to a dramatic and striking stage experience where Mozart's genius and music intertwine with Salieri's jealousy and obsessions. Starring Selçuk Yöntem (Antonio Salieri), Tansu Biçer (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Dilan Deniz Çiçek, and Özlem Öçalmaz (Constanze Weber), the play, with its massive cast of 70, is one of the most talked-about productions of recent years.

In Amadeus, the young and brilliant musician Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart captivates all of Europe with his talent, while Antonio Salieri, the court composer in Vienna, feels both admiration and envy when comparing this brilliant genius to his own. Amadeus, which won the Haldun Dormen Special Award at the 2022 Afife Theatre Awards; Best Director, Continuous Excellence, and Best Production at the Direklerarası Audience Awards; and GQ Türkiye Men Of The Year 2022 Outstanding Achievement, played to sold-out audiences for six consecutive seasons, reaching 450,000 viewers.

“Gözbağcı” offers a glimpse into the life of Kübra, who feels she doesn’t belong anywhere.

Written and co-directed by Sertaç Sayın and Melih Salgır, the play “Gözbağcı” tells the story of Kübra, who lives in a traditional family in Ankara. Kübra grew up in an orphanage before her adoption. She meets a masked magician who comes to the orphanage at night through secret passages. This magician will profoundly affect Kübra's future and cause her to question her existence within traditional society. Kübra, who wants to become a magician, is not accepted by traditional society and feels she doesn't belong anywhere. She has become the "other," excluded and marginalized by society. Kübra is such an "other" that the more she tries to escape, the deeper she sinks into the mire. The experiences of Kübra, portrayed by Deniz Ekinci, will be on stage at SGM on April 29th.
