The winners of the 2026 Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Sabancı Center on April 7, 2026. The award ceremony, which commemorates the 22nd anniversary of the passing of Sakıp Sabancı, Honorary Chair of Sabancı University, will be held as part of the program established according to his will.

The Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards are being distributed in their 21st year. The winners of the program, organized with the theme “Planetary Realities: Rethinking Governance Beyond Borders” in 2026, will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Sabancı Center on April 7. Sakıp Sabancı, Honorary Chair of Sabancı University, will be commemorated on the 22nd anniversary of his passing with the Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards.

 

 

The Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards, the first international award program in Türkiye in the field of social sciences, was established according to Sakıp Sabancı's will. Held annually since 2006, the program has received over 600 applications from 40 countries to date. In 2026, studies focusing on questions such as: "How can new forms of governance be shaped in response to planetary problems?", "How can information flows in the digital world be democratized?", "How can new ethical frameworks be established between the local and the global?", "Are public interest governance models possible against profit-driven global platforms?", and "How should collective responsibility be defined in the face of planetary challenges such as the climate crisis, space pollution, and pandemics?" were evaluated.
