Our Faculty Member Gözde İnce receives TÜBİTAK 1001 support for her project

The project, of which Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) member Gözde İnce is the principal researcher, is entitled to TÜBİTAK 1001 support.

The name of Gözde İnce’s project, which will be supported in the framework of 1001 - The Grant Program for Scientific and Technological Research Projects’ is "Development of multi-functional patches for treatment of breast cancer and in-vitro examination of effectiveness of these patches".

The project will be implemented at Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM). In the scope of the project, controllable and steerable smart patches will be developed that carry medicine which provides effective treatment for every sub-group and at every stage of breast cancer and protection against breast cancer recurrence. Different from the existing methods in the literature in that it can be applied as a one dose treatment, this method provides effective treatment of breast cancer even in late stages. Moreover, the structures with expected long-term protection properties are aimed at enhanced comfort for patients.

The project will last three years. Melis Emanet Ciofani from the Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center will be involved in the project as researcher, and Associate Professor Gianni Ciofani from the Italian Institute of Technology as advisor.
