Ceren Özkan, a graduate of the Sabancı University European Studies Master’s Program, will continue her academic journey at Oxford University, marking the tenth anniversary of her graduation. Özkan, who has been pursuing a career in diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye since 2017, has been awarded a Chevening Scholarship to study in the Diplomatic Studies Master’s Program at Oxford University.
A graduate of the Department of English Translation and Interpreting at Istanbul University, Özkan’s career path into diplomacy was shaped by her interest in diverse languages and cultures during her university years, as well as her curiosity regarding international relations and Türkiye’s position within the global system. Seeking to deepen her academic knowledge in international relations following her undergraduate studies, Özkan was accepted into the Sabancı University European Studies Master’s Program on a full scholarship.
Education at Sabancı University Shaped Her Diplomacy Career
Ceren Özkan stated that the interdisciplinary approach and analytical thinking skills she acquired at Sabancı University enabled her to evaluate international issues from a more holistic perspective in her professional life. She further noted that the guidance provided by her thesis supervisor, Prof. Dr. Meltem Müftüler-Baç, regarding both academic work and professional direction, played a pivotal role in her decision to pursue a career in diplomacy.
