The Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) will hold the first event of its webinar series titled “COP31 Explained," launched as part of its preparations for COP31, online on Friday, February 13, 2026, between 14:30 and 16:00.
The first meeting of the series will address fundamental questions such as: What is COP (Conference of Parties)? How do climate negotiations work? What are the recent developments and main agenda items? How do non-governmental actors participate in these processes? What are the expectations from COP31? The event aims to provide a comprehensive framework for participants who want to better understand the COP31 process.
Guest Speaker: Simon Evans from Carbon Brief
The speaker for the webinar will be Simon Evans, a leading figure in climate and energy journalism and Senior Policy Editor at Carbon Brief. The event will be moderated by Ümit Şahin, Coordinator of the IPC Climate Change Program.
The meeting will assess the functioning of global climate negotiations, key policy topics in the COP processes, and the potential role of COP31 in the international climate agenda in light of current developments.
To facilitate access for participants, English-Turkish translation will be provided via automatic subtitles.
