January 2026 was a month filled with enjoyable events and activities for the Sabancı University Küçükköy Creative Technologies Atelier.
 


Visit to Havran Seyit Onbaşı Primary School

The new year began with a visit to the students of Havran Seyit Onbaşı Primary School.

On Tuesday, January 6th, students from classes 4/A, 4/B, 4/C, and 4/D of Havran Seyit Onbaşı Primary School, accompanied by their teachers, visited the Sabancı University Creative Technologies Atelier in two groups, morning and afternoon.

The students were informed about the activities carried out at Sabancı University and in Küçükköy. Following this, group activities including Mbot usage, Virtual Reality (VR) experience, drawing, and design were conducted with the students.

A fun, educational, and intensive day of activities was experienced with the participation of over 100 students.
 
Education Cooperation Protocol Signed with Ayvalık Zeynep Perkit Science High School

Ayvalık Zeynep Perkit Science High School, which started operating in the 2025-2026 academic year, aims to provide access to quality education for successful students in the region, especially in Ayvalık, to support their academic and personal development, and to raise them as successful individuals at the national and international levels.

In line with these goals, an Education Cooperation Protocol was signed with Sabancı University Creative Technologies Atelier. Within the scope of the protocol, it is aimed to transfer and share Sabancı University's academic capacity, knowledge, and resources with the students.

 

Visit to Edremit Zeytinli Naim Süleymanoğlu Primary School

On Tuesday, January 13, students from Edremit Zeytinli Naim Süleymanoğlu Primary School visited the Creative Technologies Atelier.

A tour of the atelier was conducted with the students, who came accompanied by their teachers and parents. A discussion was held on sustainability within the scope of the SENTRUM Project. 

Afterwards, a robot tournament was organized with Mbot robots, and a virtual environment experience was enjoyed using VR technology. 

At the end of the day, a regenerative agriculture garden was visited, the seismograph installed in the garden was examined, and information was given about earth sciences and the formation of earthquakes.

Three Days Full of Math

A three-day Math Camp was held at the atelier between January 13 and 15. Under the guidance of expert mathematics teacher Vijdan Esen, intensive studies were conducted on mathematical interpretation, learning through experience, and mathematical thinking skills focused on the LGS (High School Entrance Exam). 

Students not only solved problems but also had the opportunity to understand, relate, and think deeply about mathematics. Throughout the camp, curiosity, discovery, and active participation were at the center of the learning process.

Visit to Aşağıbey Secondary School

On Saturday, January 17, students from Bergama Aşağıbey Secondary School were hosted at the atelier. 

As part of the activities planned for the students before the mid-term break, a discussion was held on the SENTRUM Project and sustainability. They visited the micro-repairing garden and examined the earthquake monitoring station established in collaboration with Kandilli Observatory. 

The program was completed with an Mbot competition and a VR experience.

Disaster Resilient, Sustainable Cities: The Ayvalık Example Project

In partnership with Sabancı University Küçükköy Creative Technologies Atelier and Ayvalık Anatolian High School, the project, initiated in July 2025 under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sadi Kuleli, has been implemented. The project aims to create social awareness and conduct education-focused activities for cities facing the reality of earthquakes. 

The study, conducted with students from Ayvalık Anatolian High School, aims to make young people an active part of the process under the headings:

  • Disaster-resilient cities,
  • Sustainability,
  • Earthquake awareness.

Within the scope of the three-stage project, student reports and presentations will be prepared, scientific posters will be produced, and national and international sharing will be carried out. In the later stages of the project, it is planned to expand to all schools in Ayvalık and gain an international dimension through academic collaborations. 

In this context, Sabancı University, Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory, and Istanbul Technical University are among the supporting institutions.

Musica Logic Music and Technology Winter School Held

The Musica Logic Music and Technology Winter School, organized for the 7-12 age group and led by instructor Didem Samur, was held between January 26 and 30. 

The five-day program included workshops, games, and educational activities that combined music and technology. The program offered participants both an instructive and enjoyable learning experience.
