This Week's "Minerva Talks: Istanbul in History" Series Explores Agriculture and Urban Change in Istanbul

The "Minerva Talks: Istanbul in History" series, organized in collaboration with the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) and the History Foundation, continues to open new windows into the city's past. The new event in the series will feature a talk titled "Agriculture and Urban Change from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic."

Speaker Ayşe Nur Akdal will discuss Istanbul's agricultural practices throughout history, the dynamics of urban change, and the impact of these changes on social structure. The session will be moderated by Ayşe Köse Badur and Ayşe Özil.

Discussing political, economic, social, and spatial transformations spanning different centuries, the "Istanbul in History" series brings together historical knowledge about the city with contemporary perspectives.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Minerva Han and also online. All participants interested in Istanbul's history are invited.
