Çağlar Tunç’s Project Wins Horizon Europe ERA Fellowships Support

Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Electronics Engineering Program Faculty Member Çağlar Tunç’s ‘X-AIDRON-6G’ project has won support with ERA Fellowships within the scope of the Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska Curie 2024 call.

Çağlar Tunç

Çağlar Tunç’s project entitled “X-AIDRON-6G: Explainable AI-Empowered Post-Disaster Network Outage Detection and Recovery in O-RAN-Enabled 6G Networks” will be carried out under the consultancy of our university’s Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Özgür Gürbüz.

About the project:

The X-AIDRON-6G project brings together advanced technologies such as O-RAN, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and Terahertz (THz) communication to ensure uninterrupted operation of communication networks in disaster areas. The satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-supported NTN infrastructure will be integrated with cellular networks to quickly detect and automatically fix outages. While different network components work in harmony thanks to the O-RAN architecture, the best improvement strategies will be determined with artificial intelligence-supported analyses. THz-based high-speed connections will strengthen data transmission, making the network more resilient and efficient. This project aims to contribute to the 6G vision and create reliable and sustainable communication networks, especially in disaster and remote areas.

We congratulate our Faculty Member Çağlar Tunç, who has achieved great success by being awarded the ERA Fellowships scholarship.
