Part of the effort to expand the Carbon Disclosure Project will be a joint initiative with the Association of Chemical Substance and Products Exporters of Istanbul (İKMİB). The first step will be a training to be given on January 25.
Effective in Turkey since early 2010 by the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum with the sponsorship of Akbank and reporting support by Ernst&Young Turkey, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) expands its area of influence.
CDP Turkey started a second project in the second half of 2011 with the support of the British Embassy of Ankara’s Welfare Fund. The objective of the proect is to increase the voluntary participation of companies that have the highest emission levels in their respective industries.
As part of the expansion, CDP will start a joint initiative with the Association of Chemical Substance and Products Exporters of Istanbul (İKMİB). Various activities will focus on increasing awareness with regard to the risks of the climate change brought about by industries, particularly the chemical industry, and the management of these risks. A training seminar will be held on January 25. The first part of the seminar will be a training on how to answer CDP questions, and the second part will be a briefing on the draft Regulation on Monitoring, Verifying and Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions prepared by Bureau Veritas and the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning. Approximately 150 participants are expected to attend.
Carbon Disclosure Project Turkey sent invitations to companies listed in the Istanbul Stock Exchange-100, while non-ISE-100 companies may take part in the project voluntarily. Some of the volunteer participants of the project are industry leaders such as Yünsa, Akçansa and Brisa. Supported by the British Embassy of Ankara, this initiative will expand the coverage of the Carbon Disclosure Project in Turkey, and encourage voluntary participation from industries with high emissions.
