Discussing the Future of Engineering Education at International Workshop Organized by Sabancı University

Leading educators and academics from some of the best universities around the world attended the special workshop organized at the Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) on 26-27 October 2024, discussing the future of engineering disciplines and engineering education, especially focusing on Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, how they are influenced by Artificial Intelligence (AI), how these disciplines will be positioned with respect to each other, and how the content has to be updated according to the needs of the business world.

Academicians representing Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of California - Berkeley, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) from the United States, EPFL and ETHZ from Switzerland, KU Leuven from Belgium, University of Edinburgh from Scotland, and University of Pavia from Italy came together with faculty members of Sabancı University, Koç University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Middle East Technical University (METU). The two-day invitation-only workshop was dedicated to topics such as the transformation of engineering education under the influence of AI applications, definition of the new skill sets that will be needed in the future careers of students, and the challenges associated with the technological training of future educators.
