EFSUN Director and Researcher Prof. Dr. Emre Erdem’s project entitled “PECZIB - Photo-Electrochemical Hydrogen Generation Integrated with Photo-Chargeable Zinc Ion Battery” has been found deserving of support within the scope of M-ERA.NET.
With this project, Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Emre Erdem has joined the international consortium, which will be coordinated by Prof. Dr. Nurdan Demirci Sankır from TOBB University of Economics and Technology, as a project partner. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sankır from TOBB University of Economics and Technology will contribute to the project as a researcher.

The main objective of the consortium, in which Emre Erdem is a project partner, is to develop an innovative platform that combines sustainable energy production and storage systems, is environmentally friendly, and can work in an integrated manner with photo-electrochemical hydrogen production and photo-rechargeable zinc-ion batteries.
Project partners include Prof. Dr. Igor Iatsunskyi and Dr. Mykola Pavlenko from Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza in Poland, and Dr. Arpad Rostas and Dr. Maria Mihet from the National Institute for R&D of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies in Romania.
M-ERA.NET is an ERA.NET Cofund project supported by the European Union (EU) Commission within the scope of Horizon Europe, with the aim of establishing strong research and development partnerships in materials science and engineering among European countries.
