Works of Murat Germen, member of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, can be seen in Istanbul and abroad with projects in which he takes part both as a curator and as an author.
The exhibition titled 2.5B, curated by Germen and held between September 21 and December 6, can be visited at YUNT. The exhibition explores the concept of two-and-a-half dimensions—a method of representation that exists between two-dimensional and three-dimensional space, with a focus on the illusion of depth.
The multiple “ways of seeing/transferring” that Murat Germen uses when perceiving space in his art practice are revealed in the structure he put forward as a curator in the 2.5B exhibition. The structure that guides the exhibition is based on the approach encountered in Germen’s photographs, which “directs the viewer to construct other dimensions in their perception.”* The reflections of this approach are observed in a way which highlights the spatial features that enable the illusionary effect that the works in the exhibition provide the ground for.
