Ali Arda Gençali, a PhD graduate and a Postdoctoral Researcher of the Physics Program at Sabancı University’s Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has been awarded the 2024 Serhat Özyar Young Scientist of the Year Award with his thesis entitled “Evolutionary Links Between Isolated Neutron Star Populations.”
The Serhat Özyar Young Scientist of the Year Award, which has been given every year since 2003, aims to keep Dr. Serhat Özyar’s memory alive by contributing to making science an effective force in the country’s life. The award is given to young researchers who have completed their doctorate at a university in Turkey, in one of the departments of engineering and architecture faculties, or in one of the departments of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, statistics, astronomy and space sciences, and who have obtained results that solve one of the fundamental problems on our country’s scientific agenda with their work.
This year's Serhat Özyar Young Scientist of the Year Award was given to Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Ali Arda Gençali, and Dr. Aslı Ünal.
