Prof. Ao Guoxing, Shanghai Academy of Arts Faculty Member, visited our university.
On December 11, 2023, Sabancı University was honoured to welcome the reputed Chinese artist and curator, Professor Ao Guoxing of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts (Shanghai University) for a solo photography exhibition titled "Retrospective as Future Forward”. This exhibition not only showcases Professor Ao’s profound artistic and conceptual artworks at the gallery.
He also provides two separate presentations, “In the East: Photography Practice in the Context of Contemporary Chinese Art” and “Youth Vision: Innovation and Exploration of Chinese Young Photographers”, to faculty members and students. The talks offer a rare experience and introduce the profound contemporary art scenes in China. At the same time, a memorandum of understanding and collaboration efforts will be established between both academic institutions.

Prof. Ao Guoxing
Prof. Ao Guoxing is currently a faculty member at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, at the same time he serves as the director of the Photography Art Studio, at the Shanghai Film Academy, director of the Photography Department, Master's Degree supervisor, working and living in Shanghai. He is also the director of the Chinese Photographers Association, executive director of the Photography Specialized Committee of the China Higher Education Commission, judge of the China Youth Photography Grand Prix, deputy director of the Curatorial Committee of the Shanghai Photographers Association, curator of the Shanghai International Photography Festival.
