The paper titled “Designing a Human-in-the-Loop AI System for Incident Consolidation and Severity-Aware Triage in Emergency Call Centers,” prepared by Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences students as part of their graduation project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Selim Balcısoy, was accepted and published among the conference proceedings at the ISCRAM 2026 (Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management) Conference held in Leiden, Netherlands in June 2026.

The study was also awarded the “Best Student Paper Runner-Up” award given within the scope of the conference.
The project was carried out by Computer Engineering undergraduate students İsa Utku Dursunoğlu, Barbaros Yahya, and Adahan Yiğitol, and Industrial Engineering undergraduate student Meliha Zeynep Demirtaş.
The article proposes an AI-powered, human-supervised system aimed at helping operators working in emergency call centers cope with the high volume of information during disasters. The study also develops an approach to prioritizing events, taking into account Türkiye's seismic risk profile.
