Organized by Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM), the Nano Open Webinars continue with a webinar entitled “RF MEMS Switches and Nano Vacuum Channel Transistor” that will be delivered by Kaan Demirel, one of new researcher of the SUNUM Family at 11:00 on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
RF MEMS switches are small, micromechanical switches that have low power consumption and can be produced using conventional MEMS fabrication technology. They are similar to a light switch in a room, where a contact is opened or closed to conduct a signal across the switch. In the case of RF MEMS devices, the mechanical components of the switch are only microns in size. Unlike a light switch, the signal being conducted in an RF MEMS switch is in the radio frequency range.
A vacuum field emission transistor (VFET), also known as nanoscale vacuum channel transistor, is a device with no semiconductor channel. Instead, it has an empty gap between the source and drain terminals. Electrons tunnel through this empty space.
