We Are Deeply Saddened by the Loss of Durmuş Ali Demir, Our Esteemed Faculty Member

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Durmuş Ali Demir, an esteemed member of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Durmuş Ali Demir, who had been teaching in the field of theoretical physics at our university since September 2019, was among the leading names in his field, not only in our country but also in the international community.

Prof. Demir was the recipient of highly prestigious awards such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award, the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award, the TÜBA GEBİP Award, the Mustafa N. Parlar Foundation Research Incentive Award and the Sedat Simavi Science Award. He was also an editor of the LHEP Journal. Prof. Demir being among the "Most Influential Scientists in the World" in 2020 is the source of great honor and pride for our university. He was also a member of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and Science Academy.

The sudden death of Durmuş Ali Demir is an extremely great loss for both our university and the world of education and science. May God have mercy on him, and we offer our condolences to all his relatives, loved ones, and students.
