FENS Faculty Member Prof. Berrin Yanıkoğlu received a research grant for her project titled “Predicting and Ranking Semantic Facial Attributes Using Deep Learning”, from TÜBİTAK Scientific and Technological Research Projects 1001 Program.
The topic of the project is understanding semantic facial attributes and expressions, which has its uses in human-computer interaction and can facilitate suspect search in a database. The important research questions in this domain are how to achieve accurate, scalable (for many attributes)and adaptable (to new attributes) systems; these will be all addressed in this project.
