Conference by European Academy of Sciences laureate Professor Sherrington

Emeritus Professor David Sherrington of the Physics Department of Oxford University was invited by Sabancı University to present a popular science conference titled “Physics and Complexity” at the Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum on Monday, November 8th. David Sherrington’s conference was widely followed by scholars and students.

Sabancı University Civic Involvement Projects were widely featured in the "News in Conservation IIC" publication of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC).

Using various service providers, wittingly or unwittingly, we confide our privacy to others. We are always subject to surveillance via our sent text-messages, e-mails, uploaded pictures on internet, our credit cards, phone calls, information about us on online social networks.

We barter our our privacy in exchange for the facilities and comfort these services provide. When we step against this exchange then the network of intelligence for security is weakened. Consequently, we end up raising this question: Privacy or Sercurity?

Encompassing the reflections of the Islamic world from Indonesia to Sicily, Andalusia and China throughout the same historical period, the Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum exhibition was inaugurated at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum with the cooperation of the Aga Khan Culture Foundation.

The exhibition includes masterpieces of Islamic art, and will be opened to the public as the collection of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto in 2013.  This is the first time the collection is exhibited in a predominantly Muslim country.

The Sabancı University International Relations Office took part in 6 fairs held in 4 countries to promote Sabancı University and to discuss joint efforts with institutions in various universities.

Loreal Turkey "For Women in Scinece Scholarship" Programme supported by TUBA was launched on October 2010. The Programme is created to encourage women who work in scientific field.

Life Sciences: Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacology and Physiology
Material Science: Granular Materials, Polymers, Glass - Ceramics, Composites, Biomaterials, Nano-Materials, Custom Designed Surfaces, Photonic Crystals, Condensed Matter Physics and Statistical Physics.

Sabancı University celebrates the Global Entrepreneurship Week of November 5th-12th with various panel discussions.  Events include “Suggestions from Business-Making Entrepreneur Alumni,” “Suggestions from Business-Making Faculty,” and “Resources for Entrepreneurs: Contests and Funds” to be held on the 8th, 9th and 11th of November.

Implemented in Turkey by Sabancı University with the support of Akbank, the Carbon Disclosure Project’s 2010 results were announced.  Of the 11 companies disclosing carbon emissions, 5 are banks.

Sabancı University Civic Involvement Projects (CIP) and Citibank cooperated for the NGO Internship Program, implementing an initiative maintained by the Citi Foundation in the United States for 30 years for the third time in Turkey.

The closing ceremony for the third NGO Internship Program was held at the Karaköy Communication Center on Sunday, October 24th.  Certificates were handed out to participants.
