Representing Turkey’s space and aviation vision by bringing together leading figures in the field, the National Space Program Summit welcomed the participation of Sabancı University Rocket Team SUROC, where the team introduced its rocket named GÖKSU at its own stand. Developed with a 3 km altitude target, GÖKSU stood out with its reusability, carbon-fiber structure, and high-precision flight electronics, clearly reflecting the team’s technological and engineering expertise in the field.

Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Sabancı University IPC Research Fellowship Program

The application process has begun for the 2026-2027 Mercator-IPC Research Fellowship Program, run by Sabancı University, the Istanbul Policy Center, and the Stiftung Mercator Initiative. The program's main themes are EU-Germany-Türkiye Relations and Climate Change. Academics, journalists, and experts from Germany and Europe, or those with strong ties to German society, can apply until March 9th.

Sabancı University Civic Involvement Projects course aims to foster active citizenship by encouraging university students to become more aware of the communities they live in and to take responsibility for social issues. In line with this goal, a meaningful collaboration is carried out with the Sabancı Foundation under the scope of the Türkiye’s Changemakers Program. Within this partnership, one of the names selected each year for the Changemakers Program is chosen by the votes of socially conscious Sabancı University students to receive the Sabancı University Special Award.

Towards COP31: The Negotiation Mechanism, the Decade of Paris, and Transparency Debates

The first event in the "COP31 Explained" webinar series, which will continue throughout the year as part of the Istanbul Policy Center's (IPC) preparations for COP31, was held on February 13th. The first event addressed the functioning of international climate negotiations and current debates ahead of COP31, which will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya. The event, moderated by Ümit Şahin, Coordinator of the IPC Climate Change Studies, featured Simon Evans, senior policy editor and journalist at Carbon Brief, who has followed climate negotiations for many years.
