On February 24, 2026, the Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) brought together academics and students at a panel titled “Authoritarianism Through Law: Global Patterns of Legalism as Governance” held at Minerva Han. The event, which opened a discussion on how law is positioned in contemporary political systems within an interdisciplinary framework, addressed current global developments from an academic perspective.

The final presentations of the Transcend Challenge program, implemented in collaboration with Sabancı University Career and Internship Office and Amazon, were held at our university. The process constituted the final stage of the program, which was previously launched at Amazon UAE and initially implemented in Türkiye specifically for Sabancı University students.

As part of the “Earthquake Resilient Cities: Ayvalık” project, conducted by Sabancı University's Creative Technologies Atelier, a significant scientific visit and installation work took place on February 23, 2026.

Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center has published a policy note titled "Environmental, Climate, and Labor Costs of the Fast Fashion Sector in Türkiye and the World: Problems and Proposed Solutions." The study aims to create a fair and implementable transformation roadmap to mitigate the environmental and social risks created by fast fashion.

Within the framework of the Project Writing Camp on #HorizonEurope Twinning Calls organized by TÜBİTAK, the enCRYPTON Project was presented as an inspiring success story on 17 February 2026. Coordinated by Sabancı University through SUATT and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), and led by Prof. Dr. Erkay Savaş as Project Coordinator, enCRYPTON was implemented over a three-year period and marked the university’s first Twinning project. The project was carried out in collaboration with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, and Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. Prof. Dr. Erkay Savaş, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, delivered an engaging presentation highlighting the project’s development journey, key achievements, and its contribution to institutional capacity building.

A new study by Gül Günaydın, a faculty member at Sabancı University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, reveals that even brief social interactions, often overlooked in daily life, may be enough to boost our happiness.

Our Sabancı University Materials Science and Nanoengineering Program PhD graduate, Melike Nur Önder, has been awarded support for her project titled 'VANDAI' under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

Sabancı University Vice President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yıldız met with Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, Director of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. The meeting covered the role of academic R&D in achieving Türkiye's climate goals within the scope of COP31, strategic cooperation opportunities, and the contributions the university can offer to the COP31 process.

The Artificial Intelligence Awareness Seminar, organized in collaboration with Sabancı University's Digital Transformation Office and the Turkish Artificial Intelligence Initiative (TRAI), addressed the journey of organizations towards artificial intelligence within a broad framework ranging from the historical development of artificial intelligence to generative AI, autonomous agents, and ethical principles.

The nomination process has officially begun for the 2025–26 Academic Year Extracurricular Student Activities Awards Ceremony at Sabancı University. The ceremony, which aims to recognize and highlight student clubs, sports teams, and individual initiatives that contribute to campus life, will once again be held this year with its renewed concept and expanded scope.
